Guidelines and Restrictions

  • Evening weddings and other special events in the garden may be held from April 1 to October 31 on any day of the week.
  • Evening events cannot begin before 6 p.m. (with set up to begin at 5 p.m.) and must conclude by 11 p.m. (Bar service, DJ or live music must conclude by 10:30 p.m.)
  • Daytime events cannot begin before 10 a.m. weekdays and Saturdays or 1 p.m. Sundays, and must conclude by 5 p.m.
  • The renter will fill out a Delivery Form the week prior to the event alerting JMM staff to any deliveries of table linens, flowers, etc. Delivery is restricted to the day of the event and to the times indicated on the Delivery Form.
  • The bridal party should plan to arrive already dressed. There is limited space for preparations before the event.
  • A $100, fully-refundable security deposit will be required at the time of the signed contract.
  • No food or drink is allowed in the museum. No smoking is allowed in the garden.
  • Throwing rice, bird seed, flower petals, potpourri or any other loose material after weddings is prohibited. Alternatives include bell ringing, blowing bubbles, sparklers, and noise makers.
  • The client is responsible for clean-up and disposal of all materials he or she provides.
  • Event parking is available on the streets surrounding the museum and is subject to City of Fredericksburg parking regulations. The museum is not responsible for any fines incurred.
