The Memorial Garden at the James Monroe Museum has been renovated! It is now a lovely, tranquil, and functional space in which the museum can host outdoor public events and other gatherings.
The garden is also now available for outside groups to rent for special events from April 1 to October 31 each year. Visit our Rentals page to see pictures, rates, guidelines and restrictions.
Installation of the new garden began in July of 2010. In spring of 2011, we planted new rosebushes, boxwood and yellow Carolina jessamine vine along the back wall, and brought in pots of colorful annual flowers to set around the patio. A custom-built canopy provides shade and protection from inclement weather from April through October.
