This handsome coffee table book commemorates the bicentennial of Virginia’s Executive Mansion, the oldest Executive Mansion within the 50 United States still occupied by a governor. JMM loaned the famous Rembrandt Peale portrait of James Monroe to the Mansion in honor of the bicentennial celebrations. The portrait now hangs in the State Dining Room. Monroe, who served as governor of Virginia four times, signed the law authorizing the construction of the Mansion.
