Welcome Back!

Here’s the latest on what to expect during your visit.

James Monroe Museum and the Museum Store are reopening to the public on Monday, September 14 with our adjusted hours of 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Will I have to wear a mask?

All guests are required to wear a mask while indoors. Plan on bringing your own mask although the front desk has complimentary masks in case you forget.

What precautions are in place?

  • Hand-sanitizing stations are placed at entrance/exit doors.
  • All high-touch surfaces will be cleaned throughout the day.
  • All interactive tour components have been temporarily removed.
  • All staff members will wear masks.
  • A plexiglass barrier is in place at the front desk.
  • Anyone feeling sick is asked to stay safe at home.

Has the Museum’s entrance and exit changed?

In order to ensure a one-way flow through the Museum, people will enter through the garden entrance but will exit the Museum onto Charles Street. Re-entry to the Museum can be made through the garden entrance.

How do I buy a ticket?

Tickets may be purchased in-person in the Museum Store.
