We are pleased to present – along with the Fredericksburg Area Museum and Cultural Center – a talk by Andrea Wulf, author of the recent New York Times best-seller Founding Gardeners!
For the founding fathers, gardening, agriculture and botany were elemental passions, as deeply ingrained in their characters as their belief in liberty for the nation they were creating. Andrea Wulf reveals for the first time this aspect of the revolutionary generation. The Founding Gardeners adds depth and nuance to our understanding of the American experiment, and provides us with a portrait of the founding fathers as they’ve never been seen before.
The program will be held on Friday, November 4, at 7 p.m., in at the Fredericksburg Area Museum (1001 Princess Anne Street, Fredericksburg). A book-singing will follow. Tickets are $12 ($10 for Friends of JMM), and can be purchased at the James Monroe Museum, the Museum Shop at FAMCC, or by calling us at 540/654-1123. You can also send e-mail to auphaus@umw.edu.
